walther ppk .32acp

Walther Ppk .32acp - I like the .32 ACP. It's a light throwback flick, with a nice history. I also believe that the Walther PP is one of the best guns ever made in the caliber. What is the history of the venerable PP, and how does it hold up in modern times?

Carl Walther GmBH was founded in 1886 as a company. Production at the end of the 19th century was only hunting weapons, however, that would change in 1908. Weapons production began before the outbreak of World War 1, but Walther's designs were crude, and often unreliable. Some handsets, like the Model 4, are great, but far from an accessible design. This was changed in PP.

The Walther Police Pistol (PP) would be released in 1929, and would become Walther's best-selling design. The PP is a hammer/double hammer/single action (DA/SA) weapon, and features a fixed barrel design. It's an all steel construction, except for the plastic hinges. Simple design means easier production, and easier maintenance for the end user.

The handle is more ergonomic than previous Walther designs. Ease of grip and use was improved with the magazine exit from the side of the frame, and the safety built into the slide. While the PP isn't a large weapon, it does provide plenty of room to hold both of her hands.

The PP has been adopted by many police agencies in Europe, and will become the official weapon in many countries. The PP was considered a major police weapon until the 1972 Munich Olympics Massacre. After the massacre, new 9mm designs were in demand, leading to the Walther P5, SIG P6, and H&K P7. That's a story for another time. Production of the PP continued from 1929 to 1986, still being used by many police agencies in the 1990s.

With the popularity of PP, there are of course some changes. What are celebrities?

While PP is popular, PPK is better known to the general public. The Police Pistol Kriminal (PPK) is a shortened version of the PP, with a smaller slide and longer grip. Intended as a weapon for police and undercover detectives, it has grown in popularity over the years. Some MI6 agent likes it too. Unfortunately, the .32 ACP PPK models are no longer in production, so they're asking a pretty penny. You can still get them in .22 LR or .380 ACP, but I prefer the .32.

Another popular variant is PPK/s. This model is a combination of PP and PPK for US import. The PPK/s uses a full size PP frame, with a shortened PPK slide. Like the Walther PP Glock 45. Many PPK models were manufactured by Smith and Wesson, and are still manufactured domestically in the United States by Walther.

Although not a variant, the Russian Premier Makarov is a Soviet copy of the PP. The handling and control parameters are almost identical, except for a few differences. Definitely better than Tokarev!

An interesting thing about PP is the place of production. Pre-WW2 and wartime production weapons were made in Germany at the Walther factory. However, all post-WW2 PP production was produced by Manurhin of France. There are regular Manurhin guns and Walther branded guns, but all are made by Manurhin. Dan's PP is a Manurhin brand, but mine is a Walther.

I bought my PP from Simpson LTD in October 2021. Simpson LTD is a great seller to deal with, and I got a very good deal on my PP. The gun comes in a great, 1970's factory plastic case. This example is a 1972 production weapon, and was formerly a Bavarian Police weapon, based on the frame stamping. However, there is something different about the gun.

Beretta 3032 Tomcat Vs Walther Ppk/s Size Comparison

The flu. My gun came with fake handles. "Waltheb", instead of "Walther" on the flag. Even more complicated, the clamps are not plastic like other PP clamps, but are instead made of aluminum, or a similar non-magnetic metal. I pulled the Simpson LTD for answers, even hit the Walther Owners Forum. No dice, no idea where the aftermarket gains came from. After a hearty laugh when I realized I had a unique hand, I ordered a pair of original plastic ones.

My PP has a slightly higher, I-Dot display. Like the Beretta M9, the rear sight has a vertical white line, and the front sight has a white dot. Very clever for the 1970s. Along with the sights, PP has anti-glare control on the slide. This leads to better shooting characteristics, and faster sight acquisition.

Aside from my slightly better sights and fake handles, my PP is pretty standard. How to shoot?

I had never worn PP before I bought it in the Fall. Since then, I've sent about 850 downvotes my way.

Walther Ppk Pre Ww2 .32 Acp 7.65 Handgun W Holster

The PP is easily my favorite handgun to shoot for fun. The recoil is smooth, and the gun feels great in the hand. The .32 ACP is already a smooth shooting cartridge, but the ergos and weight of the PP make it even better. If you have big hands, you might get a little slide, but it's very little.

The maker is one thing. The DA pull is very stiff, about 12 pounds on my gun. The SA weight is lower, coming out in the 4.75-5 pound range. Both are great, but the heavy DA pull takes some learning to get the feel. Shooting moves with it are difficult, but fun.

Slightly better sights make shots accurate and fast. They are worse than modern irons or optics, but very good for a gun like this. Controls on the top of the slide help reduce glare, but a coat of paint on the back and front sight also helped.

Walther Ppk .32acp

Faith is very good. I had about ten light hits, but it seemed that the ammo (S&B for reference) was related to a gun problem. About 600 stovepipes had a stove pipe, but I didn't clean the gun which (probably) caused it. The PP comes from an era when guns had to be cleaned often, and the action of striking made a mess.

Walther Ppk 7.65mm / .32 Acp Blue *incredible Pre War K Series Model*

I love this gun. 850 rounds is a lot of ammo to throw into an 8 round capacity gun in this day and age, but I didn't feel like I had to do it.

I love PP. It is an attractive, classy and beautiful weapon. It's one of my favorite cars to burn, it's true, and it's mostly reliable. However, there is one factor that can be a deal breaker: Price.

PP is not a cheap gun, nor is it very expensive. I paid $700 for mine, but it came in great shape, and came with the factory box. I've seen more for less chips, and more premium/WW2 production weapons. If you want a PPK in .32, prepare for impact. Those are long out of production, and the cheapest ones I see run around $2000. That's a lot of money for a toy line.

Besides, buying a PP or PPK magazine is not a cheap exercise (at .32). I paid an average of $40 for a Mec-Gar magazine, which adds up quickly.

Walther Ppk/s .38

With that said, you can still get new production PPKs and PPK/s in .22 LR and .380, which can help fill that niche. The .380 guns are very difficult to shoot, but the .22 should be a lot of fun. I still recommend that you try to pick up a PP in .32 while they are still available. My only gripe with the PP is that I realize I like my other .32 ACP guns better.
